We will also implement the following Monthly Caps:
Lab Usage Cap (Per Account)
UCI: $1,520 (previously $1,200 per user)
Commercial: $4,400 (previously $4,800 per user)
Academic/Sponsor: $3,300 (previously $3,600 per user)
NEW Equipment Cap (Per Tool Per Account)
UCI: $2,000
Commercial: $3,000
Academic/Sponsor: $2,500

Today approximately 1pm the fire alarm in Calit2 went off and the building had to be evacuated. It was later found out that it was due to users using improper materials in one of the furnaces in rm 1401. This is the second time this has occurred therefor the furnaces will be off limits until we come up with a solution. We will notify you when they are available (Please do not ask staff)
Dear INRF Staff & Colleagues,
Our Cleanroom Engineer, Dexter Humphrey will be retiring from the University! His last day with us will be Monday, October 3rd.
Dexter has been a dedicated to the University of California for the last 10 years. During his tenure at UCI he implemented the “Cleanroom Fabrication Processing Techniques” course series which was well received by students users and has been instrumental in assisting our cleanroom users with their research projects. I hope everyone will join me in wishing him well in his future endeavors. We will be holding a farewell gathering on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Calit2, room 3008.
Lunch and light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by e-mailing sryan@uci.edu if you plan to attend.
We have recently had the floors cleaned/waxed in the INRF cleanroom and noticed that the disposable booties did not give proper traction. In order to break in the new floor and keep you safe we have removed the disposable booties in the gowning room and replaced them with the cleanroom suit shoe covers (various sizes / please check). Please snap together and return them to the bin after use. We anticipate this only be enforced throughout next week. The BION is not effected.
The INRF Cleanroom will be closed tomorrow due to furniture/equipment being moved and in order for Facilities to clean and wax the floors. We apologize for the short notice, prep work is taking longer than anticipated. We will be back up on Monday. BION will be unaffected.
INRF Front office will be closing @ 2pm today for the labor day holiday. Monday is a campus holiday therefor the office and acid rooms will be closed. Please use the back door keycard reader for INRF building access.
The INRF gowning room is now back on line. You will now be able to access the cleanroom with your keycards through rm 2324 (afterhours included). All afterhours users with hard keys, please return them to Ryan asap.
The BION is back to the 24hr schedule to those with access. Thanks for your patience.
INRF
- The INRF will be closed this Saturday (08/13) in order for Facilities to perform maintenance on the compressors.
- The DI water in the INRF is still down due to leaks within the facility. We are still working on getting these repaired.
BION
- No after-hours use is still in effect until after the 27th (Special permission will be granted if staff is on site)
- The exhaust issue seems to be under control but stay vigilant and pay attention to the alarms in case the issue arises again. Facilities is still investigating the cause.
