Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility

From Facilities:

One of the two exhaust fans dedicated to the acid benches tripped off yesterday due to excessive heat in one of the variable frequency drives.
The system did not go down completely but one fan is unable to maintain the exhaust plenum set point, hence the bench alarms.
This should be considered and unforeseen equipment failure.
The trouble fan VFD was reset, is running, and is maintaining set point.
We are in the process of ascertaining the cause of the trip and should have an answer for you before noon.

As of now the wet process rooms will be tagged out until we get the “all clear”. We will keep you updated.

NOTE: This is a reminder to always pay attention to the hood alarms and/or any warning signs and to stop your process ASAP. Luckily the users knew what to do and no one was hurt.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

Jake will be out of the office today therefor the wet etch rooms will be closed in the BION. They will be open tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

Dear INRF and BiON Cleanroom Users,

Lab safety is of critical importance to all cleanroom users in our shared Facilities. Therefore, with the assistance of EH&S we will be hosting our Annual All Hands User Safety Meeting to review safety policies and procedures. In addition, we have invited the Fire Marshall to be present.

This meeting is mandatory and those absent will no longer be able to access the cleanroom. If you cannot attend, please let us know and we will schedule a separate time for you to come in.

The meeting is scheduled as follows:

Date: Friday, November 1st
Time: 1:00PM – 3:00PM
Place: Calit2 Auditorium

The STS system is down due to the current ageing computer system. We are currently waiting for the new upgraded computer system to return from the UK but don’t have an ETA at this time. We will update the blog as soon as the equipment is back up. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

The PlasmaTherm and MA6 are down for maintenance and should be back up Wednesday once Jake gets in. The HF room in the BION will also be closed until Wednesday.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

On Friday we will be going through and disposing of mislabeled and expired photoresist bottles. Please come in and check if yours is one of these and relabel the bottles if you plan on keeping  it.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

As some of you might have noticed we have been short on certain size gowns for quite some time so last week we went through and pulled all the suits of users that have been using the lab part time. Today we implemented new Full time users, Part time users & Staff/Super users sections in the gowning room. The INRF is ready to go and the BION will be set up sometime next week.

  • Full Time Users: Users that use the lab on a daily basis. You will have a hanger w/ name-tag, coveralls, hood & shoe covers assigned to you. You are responsible for putting the items in the laundry bag when dirty and checking with the front desk to be issued a new set/item. Please let the front desk know if you plan on not using the lab on a regular basis so we can make those items available for other users.
  • Part Time Users: Users that use the lab on a bi-weekly/monthly basis. We have set up hangers of shared coveralls (sizes are labeled on the hanger). The hoods will be in a bin above the coveralls. Please use the disposable shoes covers. Return the coveralls and hoods to the correct hanger/bin when finished. If you plan on using the lab on a daily basis, contact the front desk.

As a reminder, Do not user gowns assigned to another staff member or cleanroom user.
