Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility

The upgrade for the STS is going to start on August 5th and should take approximately 2 weeks to complete.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

The e-beam evaporator is somewhat functional but the cylinoid valve assembly that operates the high vac is only operating correctly in one direction (the opening direction).

Users are required to have staff help them close the high vac valve so please check with staff before operating the tool.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

Jake will be off tomorrow and Monday (7/26 – 7/29) therefor there will be no access to the HF / inorganic benches.

Note: Jake noticed yesterday again people are using the HF wet bench and not recording it on the white board in the gowning area. Until this gets resolved, the HF benches will continue to be closed when Jake is not around.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

We are now accepting applications for our Super User Program, for more information see the documents below.

Please submit the application via e-mail to Alana Valencia at anvalenc@uci.edu. The deadline to submit is this Friday, 7/26/13.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

As a reminder the Vacuum and Nitrogen must be turned off after using the Laurell Spinners as posted and the acetone waste containers must be emptied after each usage.

Due to the reduction in lab staff hours, equipment training will be held regularly on a weekly basis on Wednesday’s. Please see Ryan to sign up for the next equipment training on July 24th. Please keep in mind that we are not able to provide training on equipment that is currently offline. You may check the status of equipment by visiting https://www.inrf.uci.edu/facility/equipment/status/.

Last night a user broke a wafer inside the STS chamber.  Jake will have to open the chamber to remove the wafer before system can be back online.

INRF/BION Staff

As a reminder all users are required to record the wet bench activity in the BiON. Yesterday we noticed that two users did not record their activity on the board, which included HF activity. Please be aware that this is a safety requirement and users that do not comply will be in jeopardy of having their access terminated.

Thanks,
INRF/BION Staff

After some testing we are happy to say that the STS System is now back up.

Thanks,
INRF Staff

We have received good news from EH&S and are happy to report that work may resume in the INRF Cleanroom beginning tomorrow, 7/10/13. Based on the report prepared by EORM Consultants we have approval to reinstate use of our fume hoods for specific processes. This includes lithography, electroplating, dry etch and metalization processes. All other processes not mentioned, such as wet etch, have been transferred to the BiON Cleanroom and will remain here until the permanent fix for the INRF ventilation system is completed.

One fume hood in room W2332 (TSS#86187, Negative Photo resist) was not approved as it does not meet the minimum flow rate requirement of 100 fpm.
EH&S has placed a work order with Facilities Management to correct this deficiency. Work may not resume in this fume hood until after the issue is corrected.

For further information, please review the report prepared by EORM. If you have questions regarding your specific process, please e-mail us at: info@inrf.uci.edu.
