A reminder:
- Full Time Users: Users that use the lab on a daily/weekly basis. You will have a hanger w/ name-tag, coveralls, hood & shoe covers assigned to you. You are responsible for putting the items in the laundry bag when dirty and checking with the front desk to be issued a new set/item. Do not take the Shared gowns/hoods to replace a dirty gown. Please let the front desk know if you plan on not using the lab on a regular basis so we can make those items available for other users.
- Part Time Users (Shared Gowns): Users that use the lab on a bi-weekly/monthly basis. We have set up hangers of shared coveralls (sizes are labeled on the hanger). The hoods will be in a bin above the coveralls. Please use the disposable shoes covers. Return the coveralls and hoods to the correct hanger/bin when finished. If you plan on using the lab on a daily/weekly basis, contact the front desk.
As a reminder, Do not use gowns assigned to another staff member or cleanroom user. Do not take the Shared gowns/hoods to replace a Full Time User gown.
Please see Ryan (x-2819) to issue you a new one.
Earthquake Drill Tomorrow!
The INRF will participate in the Great California Shakeout tomorrow at 10:15 AM. This is good practice for users to go through emergency shut down for equipment and safety procedures during an Earthquake. Don’t forget to practice the following tomorrow:
- Simulated Equipment Emergency Shutdown/ Safe chemical handling (Review Equipment Emergency Shutdown Procedures)
- Exit the facility safely (since this is a drill you may take off your gown)
- Find a good location to drop, cover and hold on (once out of the cleanroom)
- Meet at the Evacuation Assembly Point (outside between the two Engineering Gateway buildings)
Good Luck!

Message from Calit2:
“Due to the current Calit2 construction project, access to Calit2 clean room load-in entry 1451 will be limited. Temporary walled door structures will be built at both ends of the Calit2 east corridor in order to better control the construction zone – (see below). All access to the 1451 clean room load-in door will need to be coordinated through Gregory Gallardo (Ext 4-4488) in advance until further notice and/or at least through February 2016. This will also temporarily change the emergency exiting procedure for clean room bays facing the south corridor. The Fire Marshall will be posting all appropriate signage.”

Rooms 1421, 1422, 1431 & 1432 will closed Tuesday 9/8/2015 and Friday 9/11/2015 from 5am – 3pm due to Facilities work upstairs. They will be X-raying and coring the concrete above so be aware that there will be loud noises as well. Areas affected are highlighted in black on the below map (Click map to enlarge).

Starting this Monday all equipment, except for Characterization and Spinners, will require that a reservation be made in advance. You will no longer be able to walk up and access the tool without a prior reservation. To access you will need to log into the Cleanlog and choose the Equipment Schedule tab, then select the equipment/time that is available. You may reserve the equipment up to 5 minutes prior to the equipment time slot.
If you plan to come in on Monday to use equipment, we suggest that you schedule this weekend. If you have any questions about equipment reservations, feel free to contact staff.
Thanks for your cooperation!
